Air Filter/ Fuel filter Change. i bought my Kuga at thestart of the year (2011 163 AWD 19" alloys, 8500 miles), i am very happy with it in general however the fuel comsuption has not been great (29mpg on the motorway). But good cleaning require to remove the EGR and and the EGR cooler. Also to remove the intake manifold ( manifold is joined body with the valve cover) 100% the manifold is at least 20-30% obstructed. Also the head ports are obstructed and you may have significant effect on the power output.

If it's done less the 125,000 miles chances are the DPF is fine and it will be the fuel vaporiser that's failed. Cost about £170, maybe a little more now plus about an hour to an hour and half labour. Who qouted you the £3500 and what are the fault codes.

I had a P2002 ‘particulate trap - efficiency bellow threshold’ and multiple P2463 ‘DPF restriction - soot accumulation error, resulting in ‘limp home’ mode triggering every so often. This happened to me 8 years ago when the DPF differential sensor failed.
