It came with low oil do I wanted to change rather than add to it. I bought the oil change kit with synthetic but I just read not to use synthetic until break-in or at least 600 miles. But KTM has used two different fluids in their clutch: DOT 4 or 5.1 brake fluid. This one is the most common one and you can se the fluid you need to use on the clutch handle lid. Hydraulic oil: Used in the Magura clutch setup. This one was used from approx 2010 - 2013. I had a bit of oil on one of my fork tubes - the dealer actually caught it - when asked about it he said its a "wear item" not covered by KTM and pulled out a bulletin to prove it - Don't know about the rest of the world but in the US the KTM warranty covers almost nothing - or, its up to the dealer - just for kicks and giggles read what the warranty covers - you'll be surprised - Fortunatley
On the oil, if riding in winter 10W-40 semi-synthetic is good and Motorex is as good as any. Summer riding change to 15W-50 if it is a hot summer (see temp range in manual).
